WebMBA Celebrates 25 Years with Event at Truist Park

August 20, 2025

ATLANTA, GA (August 2025) – The Georgia WebMBA® program is proud to celebrate its 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of providing a high-quality, accelerated online Master of Business Administration degree to working professionals across the state and beyond.

Launched at a time when online learning was still an outlier, the WebMBA program has spent 25 years redefining business education by offering a one-of-a-kind learning experience taught by top business faculty from across seven University System of Georgia AACSB-accredited institutions.

The WebMBA consortium was formally established on July 13, 2000, when five universities—Georgia College & State University, Georgia Southern University, Kennesaw State University, University of West Georgia, and Valdosta State University—signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on an online MBA program. The program welcomed its first cohort in 2001, at a time when high-quality online MBA options were rare. Today, after welcoming Augusta University and Columbus State University to the consortium, the program includes faculty and students from seven top-performing partner institutions, continuing its legacy of innovation, collaboration, and academic excellence.

As part of its anniversary celebration, the WebMBA will host a special community event at Truist Park on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 12:05 PM, as the Atlanta Braves take on the Seattle Mariners. The event will bring together alumni, current students, faculty, staff, and retirees to honor the program’s legacy, strengthen community ties, and celebrate its enduring impact on business leaders across industries.

"The WebMBA has always been about more than a degree—it’s about building a strong, supportive community of leaders who are equipped to succeed in an increasingly global business world," said Angelia Huggins, WebMBA Managing Director. "Celebrating 25 years of success with our students, alumni, and faculty at Truist Park is a perfect way to honor that spirit."

Since its founding, the WebMBA has graduated thousands of professionals who have gone on to make an impact in industries including healthcare, finance, technology, and government. Alumni frequently cite the program’s focus on collaboration, accountability, and leadership as key to their career growth.
